Just last month, gun owners unceremoniously booted multiple anti-gun legislators — up for re-election in the Minnesota Senate — out of office.
Rod Skoe, gone.
Lyle Koenen, gone.
And a huge number of pro-gun incumbents beat back their anti-gun challengers and will be returning to St Paul.
It was a fantastic night, and absolutely necessary, as it was those legislators who were directly responsible for crushing Constitutional Carry legislation.
Now, for the first time in years, Minnesota has a pro-gun majority in both chambers of the legislature.
That’s why 2017 will be an absolutely crucial year in our fight to advance these pro-gun bills!
So please, sign the petition that I’ll link you to in a moment, calling on the legislature to pass Constitutional Carry law in Minnesota in 2017!

You see, we can’t take anything for granted as we gear up for the next legislative session.
We fought hard since our inception, forcing votes on Constitutional Carry in 2015, and figuring out who in the legislature is really pro-gun and who just says they are.
Armed with that information, we’ve been on a mission to expose those legislators who’ve voted against our gun rights ever since.
After gun owners stormed the polls and booted anti-gunners out of power, we find ourselves on the precipice of passing some major legislation for the first time!
But make no mistake: this is no time to pop open a bottle of champagne, not by a long shot.
As we’ve seen before, it’s very easy for well-meaning legislators to fall prey to the pressure of the radical anti-gun media, Bloomberg’s front groups, and whisper campaigns from other legislators.
Many good gun bills have died this way over the years.
That’s why it’s essential that you and I stay active in our fight to pass solid pro-gun legislation in 2017.
We have to counter the pressure that the legislature is feeling from the other side!
For those new to this fight, Constitutional Carry is a very simple idea that says if you’re legally allowed to own a firearm, you’re legally allowed to carry that firearm for self-defense without needing government permission.
No adding your name to a government database.
No having to pay a fee to exercise a constitutionally guaranteed right.
No having to beg permission from government officials, so many of whom make this process far more difficult than necessary.
It’s just the Second Amendment, the way our founding fathers intended it to be.
Of course, if you’d like to keep a permit, you may still do so as Constitutional Carry doesn’t eliminate the permit system, it simply makes it optional.
So please, sign your petition in support of Constitutional Carry legislation right away!
When we first started this fight, the idea of Constitutional Carry was seen as ‘too extreme.’
But a lot has happened since then, and a lot of states have passed Constitutional Carry law since then, too.
Just this year alone, four states passed Constitutional Carry including West Virginia, Mississippi, Idaho and in Missouri!
In Missouri the legislature (being lobbied heavily by the members of our sister organization, the Missouri Firearms Coalition) passed Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law at the same time!
The idea of recognizing the Second Amendment is all the ‘permission’ we need to carry a firearm with which to defend ourselves and loved ones, is mainstream thought now all over the country.
That’s why it’s high time Minnesota join these other states and pass this legislation next session.

Of course, Minnesota is far from the only state pushing this legislation in 2017.
In Iowa, pro-gun champion Senator Rick Bertrand has already signaled that he’s ready to ‘go to the mat’ once again for the Second Amendment and will be fighting tooth and nail to pass this legislation!
In Georgia, gun owners, led by the tireless team at Georgia Gun Owners, booted out a bunch of bad legislators in their primary elections and are going to be introducing this legislation there, as well.
In Ohio, the long-time pro-gun champion and State Representative Ron Hood is doing the same thing by introducing Constitutional Carry as he fights side-by-side with the members of Ohio Gun Owners.
Right next door in Wisconsin, State Representative Jesse Kremer is about to roll out the identical bill for the Badger State, recognizing that law abiding gun owners don’t need a “permission slip” to carry a defensive firearm!
I could go on and on.
Now is the time for the Minnesota Legislature to step up to the plate for gun owners!
Gun owners worked tirelessly all over the state to crush anti-gunners who were seeking re-election, seeking another 4-year term to clamp down on our gun rights.
If gun owners booted out one of them, maybe that could be written off as a fluke.
But when gun owners storm the polls and toss out entrenched anti-gunners, including the Chair of the Senate Tax Committee Rod Skoe, (a 14-year incumbent), it’s clear that gun owners are not kidding around!
but believe me when I say that there are powerful lobbies and personalities at the Capitol that will do all they can to stop these bills, or weaken them significantly, during the upcoming session.
So make sure you’ve signed your petition, so that I can show the members of the legislature that you and I expect them to follow through on those campaign promises right away!
And, if you’ve not already done so, please renew your support in Minnesota Gun Rights for 2017!
Simply put, we ran a very expensive election program this year.
We had to, or else we’d face another four years of seeing gun bills die at the hands of anti-gunners in the Senate and weak kneed ‘leadership’ in the House.
But as we gear up for 2017, we’re not as stable as we need to be.
