On behalf of the board of directors, I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving from Minnesota Gun Rights!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend with family and friends that you may not have seen for some time.
I’m thankful for the team we’ve assembled here at Minnesota Gun Rights who have the privilege and pleasure of fighting on your behalf!
But mostly, I’m just thankful for you, the grassroots army that is Minnesota Gun Rights.
This isn’t some out-of-state gun lobby that flies into St Paul once in a while and then leaves again, like others do.
My wife and son (and one on the way!) and I live right here in Northfield and are proud to raise our family here, just like all of you.
This organization was founded by Minnesotans, it’s run by Minnesotans, and it’s funded by Minnesotans just like you.
Every time we’ve asked you to call or email the legislature to support or oppose legislation, you rose to the call.
When we asked you to volunteer at all of the gun shows we attend every year, we’ve always had the help we needed.
When we set about to run our massive election program last year, you guys funded that program 100%, giving us the ammo we needed to fight back.
This consistent support has made Minnesota Gun Rights the most effective gun rights bulldog in the state capitol!
For that, I couldn’t be more proud!
When the weekend is over, I also hope that you’ll redouble your commitment to the fight over the Second Amendment here in Minnesota.
As you know, Minnesota Gun Rights will be making a major push for Stand-Your-Ground law in the 2018 legislative session!
Stand-Your-Ground law simply removes the current duty to retreat that is required of law abiding citizens in Minnesota, before you can defend yourself or your loved ones from a violent attacker!
This common-sense law is already on the books in dozens of states, including Iowa and Missouri which passed it this past year.
The momentum is building, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be an easy fight.
Anti-gun politicians and Bloomberg’s gun control groups are promising the biggest push for gun control in years in the wake of the Las Vegas and Texas shootings.
So you can see we’re going to need all hands on deck as the session kicks off.
I hope you’ll continue to stand with us!
In the meantime, I again hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with your family.
For Freedom,
Benjamin Dorr
