Imagine sitting in your local health care provider’s office seeking treatment for a medical issue.
As you’re about to leave, your healthcare provider aggressively pushes you to sign a form to declare yourself prohibited from owning firearms.
Or imagine you’re confiding to your local pastor about some tensions in your marriage, and after receiving his counsel your pastor tells you that for the good of your family you should sign a form to relinquish all your firearms and declare yourself unable to safely possess them ever again.
Sounds preposterous, right?
Not if Senator Ron Latz has his way.
You see, since the session began back in January, Minnesota Gun Rights has warned you that BILLIONAIRE anti-gun activist Michael Bloomberg and his cohorts in the Minnesota Legislature were by no means defeated after the shellacking his candidates took in the 2014 general election cycle.
Now, hoping that gun-rights activists like you and me have been lulled to sleep, Michael Bloomberg’s full time water-boy in the Minnesota Senate, Senator Ron Latz (DFL-St Louis Park), has introduced Senate File 1289.

SF1289 is being marketed in St. Paul as a non-controversial bill that would allow gun-owners to declare themselves prohibited from owning firearms – in hopes that criminals would somehow disarm themselves.
But, as “Pollyanna-ish” as this legislation sounds, it is anything but.
That’s because Senator Latz and Michael Bloomberg know that an aggressive push by anti-gun medical professionals across the state could certainly result in thousands of gun-owners being disarmed.
Already, gun-owners are dealing with this issue at the Federal level, as President Obama’s new Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, has already declared that “guns are a health care issue.”
Make no mistake; Barack Obama, Michael Bloomberg and now Ron Latz are doing everything they can to activate an entire network of medical professionals into being their frontline allies in disarming Minnesotans.
You see, this legislation does not just simply allow your doctor to encourage you to disarm yourself, it includes a wide array of medical professionals.
Psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, family therapists, marriage therapists, clinical counselors, and ANYONE who has a degree in a related field would all now be aggressively trying to get you to disarm yourself if SF1289 becomes law.
Latz and his cronies in the State Legislature know that for them to pass gun-control, especially with the divided government we currently have here in Minnesota, they have to be more careful and more subtle in their approach.
That’s why they are using the guise of “public health” as a vehicle for their gun-control initiatives in 2015.
However, my capitol insiders are already reporting to me that Senator Latz and his colleagues intend to use this bill as a framework by which they can launch a whole host of attacks on your Right to Keep and Bear Arms, using amendment after amendment after amendment, just like we witnessed at the Federal Level just over a year ago.
The bill already has the co-sponsorship of several of Minnesota’s most anti-gun state senators, and has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Latz himself.
Sources tell me that this bill may move very quickly in the State Senate if you and I don’t act!
The anti-gunners are hoping to slide this through with minimal fuss so as not to allow Minnesota Gun Rights time to mobilize you and your friends in helping us stop this bill.
We can’t let that happen!
Nor can we sit back and assume that this bill will be dead-on-arrival in the House.
Despite a leadership switch in the Minnesota House after the 2014 elections, the Minnesota House has done absolutely NOTHING to advance any pro-gun bills in this legislative session.
Now, as the back-room dealing commences over the state’s budget, ALL SORTS of compromises are on the table…
…including your gun rights.
Gun owners in our state should be able to speak freely with their clergy, medical professionals, and anybody else they want to, without having to worry about being harassed for being a proud gun-owner.
I’m sure you agree with me.

Over the next couple of weeks, Minnesota Gun Rights will be unleashing a large grassroots mobilization program designed to make sure that tens of thousands of Minnesotans know what Senator Latz is trying to do behind closed doors.
Using direct mail, targeted social media and house-to-house lit drops, it’s my intention to reach out and mobilize 50,000 Minnesotans over the next two weeks.

Senator Latz and his allies in the Legislature are hoping to slide this through quick, so we have to move quickly as well.

As bad as this is, insiders report to me that this is only the beginning framework of what could be a much larger gun-control bill that Senator Latz is looking to move via amendments once the bill is on the floor for a vote.
