The Minnesota Gun Rights gubernatorial candidate survey results are in and I’ve got some good news and bad news to report.
With the August 14th Primary coming on Tuesday, I wanted to make sure you knew EXACTLY where your gubernatorial candidates stand on critical gun rights issues.
We sent out surveys to:
Republican Jeff Johnson
Republican Tim Pawlenty
Democrat Erin Murphy
Democrat Tim Walz
Democrat Lori Swanson
On the Democrat side, Swanson, Murphy and Walz have all REFUSED to return their MGR candidate survey.
On the Republican side:
JEFF JOHNSON
Candidate Jeff Johnson filled out his survey 100% PRO-GUN, promising in writing to fight tooth and nail for our gun rights!
More than that, Johnson even filled out his Minnesota Gun Rights Leadership Pledge – something very few candidates do!
He promised to VETO any gun-control legislation that lands on his desk, specifially “Universal Gun Registration”, “Red Flags” gun seizures and more.
He promised to not only sign pro-gun legislation into law, but to push our weak legislature HARD to pass Stand-Your-Ground law and Constitutional Carry.

TIM PAWLENTY
On the other hand, Tim Pawlenty has absolutely REFUSED to fill out his Minnesota Gun Rights Candidate Survey and tell gun owners where he stands!
But then, I think we already know.
On August 3rd, in a debate between Jeff Johnson and Tim Pawlenty on MPR radio, Pawlenty took to the airwaves in support of radical gun control!
When asked what each candidate would do on the issue of guns, Jeff Johnson stood FIRM for gun owners and said he’d veto ANY gun-control legislation that hit his desk.
What did Tim Pawlenty say?
He promised support for:
BANNING Bump-Stocks; which, regardless of how you feel about bump-stocks, would open the floodgates of gun-control here in Minnesota and turn a “simple” bump-stock ban bill into a gun-control nightmare!
Getting the green light from a “pro-gun” governor to pass a bump-stock ban would have the anti-gunners in a frenzy as they throw “Red Flags” gun seizures, Universal Gun Registration, AR-15 bans and more under this gun-control Christmas tree.
INCREASED Background Checks; which is nothing more than a middle-of-the-road approach to passing Universal Gun Registration but is designed to appeal to as many radical anti-gunners as possible while trying to convince gun owning Minnesotans that a little gun control “isn’t all that bad!”
MENTAL HEALTH Gun-Control legislation; which would allow your doctor to decide that because you ‘own too many guns’ or that you ‘voted for the wrong Presidential candidate’ you’re now “mentally deficient”, stripping you of your gun rights based on nothing but political bias.
And now, anti-gun Tim Pawlenty is digging in his heels, REFUSING to go on record about your gun rights in advance of the August 14th Primary!
Site, this is a slap across the face of gun owners!
That’s why I’m asking you right now to contact Tim Pawlenty and tell him to APOLOGIZE to gun owners for his support of gun control and fill out the Minnesota Gun Rights Candidate Survey NOW!

If Tim Pawlenty won’t listen to us gun owners now while he’s running for governor, how can we expect he’ll act on our behalf in office?
If gun owners do the hard work of getting Stand-Your-Ground through our legislature, would Pawlenty sign it?
How about Constitutional Carry?
Will he sign them into law as any pro-gun Governor would, or will he Dayton us in the back and veto them?
We don’t know, because Pawlenty REFUSES to tell us.
It’s no surprise, Tim Pawlenty has long cared more about what his anti-gun pals in Washington and Bloomberg’s brigade want than the wishes of law abiding Minnesotans who need firearms for self-defense.
His refusal to go on record is proof positive of that.
